Project Eclipse: Nov 11 Update

With another high attendance session, jobs were divided up amongst the members for our next steps in the Eclipse rebuild.
The main focus of tonight's session was to finally "marry" the subframe to the Eclipse body.
With fresh brake shoes and cables now installed in the rear end, we were ready for the installation process. We even saved a few bucks by reconditioning the old brake pads which were still within spec for operation:

Car club members also made the effort to repaint all four struts, install the lowering springs on the rear struts and repaint the rear calipers for that clean look.

With our dedicated body team tirelessly removing rust, the rear portion of the undercarriage is finally undercoated and ready for the subframe:

Since little details are important, we decided to have a little fun. To remember the shop's location in our school, we painted a cool little graphic onto the subframe cradle before it finds its home on the Eclipse:

And finally, it was time to join the subframe to the car!

While our team begins making all the necessary connections, other students begin to remove items like the A/C compressor and condenser, front engine cross member and other items...

Finally, the subframe is in place where it belongs, and looking pretty sharp!

As we cleaned up our tools, it was a pleasure to see another checkpoint reached on our Eclipse rebuid. It is thanks to the dedication of the many young men and ladies in our Car Club that make a difference in student success! Great job, students! Mr. Da Silva is proud of you all!
