Last week, we were forgunate enough to have several hundred dollars of car audio equipment donated for Project Eclipse from Kicker Audio Industries.

Before this week's Car Club was under way, Mr. Mule's Design Technology students came down to the auto shop and began to take initial measurements of the Eclipse's interior shell. This will allow for them to design the "skeleton" which will house the enclosures for the subwoofers and the other audio equipment.
This week, while some Car Club students worked on the Eclipse, others worked on various other jobs in the auto shop.
We had some veteran members welcome new members to the club and show them the ropes around the class. As part of the leadership process in Car Club, new members were shown how to do things like precision grind metals, use drills and perform oil changes on static displays.
The drilling and grinding was performed to create more static displays like this portable drum brake set up to help students demonstrate proficiency in brake system service. Displays like these provide hands-on learning experience that compliments theoretical instruction.
Back on our Spirit Car, some students performed a wire brush cleaning of the interior to remove rust and prep the inner shell for its new wood skeleton.
The large racing seats were removed to allow students enough space to move around inside the vehicle and design and construct the vehicle's skeleton. We will need as much space as possible to work in the sports car.
As first steps to the audio/video system install, we temporarily mounted the big screen in the vehicle in a semi-permanent position to lay out its spot among the audio system. We have decided not to motorize the TV, as its new position over the former back seats no longer need it to be folded away.
We also began to cut out wood rings that would represent the locations of the subwoofers to be mounted in the trunk space along with the extra power glass mat battery and amplifier.
We will continue the design and allocation process next week as we lay out the wonderful equipment we had donated to us from another community partner...Kicker Audio Systems.
